Obituary for Eleanor Ruth Nemeth

Eleanor was born in Norwalk, Ohio, a rural farming community on February 5, 1939. Her parents were Glenn Hall Ross and Mary Barbara Ross. Glenn was a farmer and Mary Barbara was a school-teacher. Eleanor was the eldest of four children. She was followed by a brother, Ernest Wayne, a sister, Joan Laurabelle, and a youngest Glenn Hall (Tim) Jr.
During World War 2, Glenn went to Detroit to build tanks for the war effort. Eleanor went with him to care for the living quarters and cook for a group of men. During the war, the family moved to Perry, Ohio and settled there. Glenn went to work as a mechanic. Eleanor went to school and graduated from Perry High School in 1957. During the 1960’s, Eleanor started studies at Kent State University.
Eleanor, while still in high school, went to work at a diner as a short order cook. She had a son born in 1960, Charles Frank, with her husband Llewellyn Charles Robbins (Robbie). Robbie passed away two years later. Eleanor remarried to George Wieland and had two more sons, George Glenn born in 1964 and Duane Edmund born in 1965. Eleanor raised the boys and restarted her college education. She was a Cub Scout den mother and her home was always open to her son’s friends, many of whom called her mom.
In 1974 the family moved to Texas. Eleanor continued to maintain a home and started a house cleaning business. During this time, Eleanor went on to get Ordained in the Ministry at Christ for the Nations in Dallas in 1986. In 1995 her husband George passed away. At this time, Eleanor moved to Richmond Indiana to fulfill a lifelong ambition and work with wayward youths. She began a career as a teacher / counselor at New Creations School. Here she met the true love of her life, Lyle Nemeth. They married in 1997 and have been the joy of each other’s lives for the last 20 years. In 2006, Eleanor and Lyle returned to Texas. After Eleanor’s mother passed, she took over the matriarchal role and continued the traditions of the Ross Family Reunions in Granville, Ohio and summer retreats in Upper Michigan at the family house.
In the 1980’s , Eleanor found a cause and started donating to build Christian schools in Central and South America. She financed or helped finance 8-10 churches during her lifetime. She also enjoyed working with children as a Mentor through Love Never Fails. Eleanor’s home was always open to friends and family and strangers as well. Later in life Eleanor appreciated traveling the world. She journeyed to the Holy Land, traveled Europe by train and stayed with friends in England on occasion. Eleanor also traveled around the country, never paying for a room as her friends were far and wide.
Eleanor Nemeth, 78, passed to Heaven on March 6, 2017. Loved by Lyle, four children, extended family and friends. Services held in Haltom City, Texas were held March 9, 2017, and will be held at the Lake County outdoor YMCA in Perry, Ohio, on March 16, 2017, the time will be 3:30pm – 6:00pm.
