Linda C. Compton, 67, a resident of Bedford, Texas, died Friday, February 24, 2017 at Baylor Medical Center Dallas, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born in Medina, Ohio, to Olive (Tooker) and Sam Cicora. She attended Ellet High School and upon graduation in 1967, Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor in Business Administration. After graduation Linda worked for the American Red Cross, GTE Directories and Unum Corporation before she earned her CEBS Certification and began her work with the Allied Pilots Association, a job that brought her much joy and cultivated many wonderful friendships. In addition to her work, she was very passionate about the arts, specifically music, as she volunteered with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Mimir Chamber Arts Festival. Her true loves in life were her two daughters and five granddaughters. She was their biggest cheerleader, and they brought her great happiness. Survivors include daughters Molly (Thorwald) Herbert and Ellen (Christopher) Bruenjes, granddaughters Jane Bruenjes, Nora Bruenjes, Anne Bruenjes, Isabelle Herbert and Olivia Herbert, brothers Ken (Jackie) Cicora, Bob (Cathy) Cicora, former husband Frank (Debra) Compton, sister Janice Whitlatch, brothers Cy (Linda) Compton, Bill Compton, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017, 1:00pm at William C. Martin United Methodist Church, Bedford, Texas. Memorials may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society and Mimir Chamber Music Festival (www.mimirfestival.org).
