Vincent Dannis, 69, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, after a long battle with lung disease.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at First United Methodist Church of Hurst, 521 W Pipeline Road, Hurst.

Vince was born Jan. 1, 1947, in Alamogordo, N.M., to the late Louis Watslaw Dannis and Anthea Jean Eubanks. He spent his youth in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1965. After spending one year at Texas Tech, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1965-68. He went on to earn his B.A. in English from UTA and an M.A. in Humanities and Literature, from U.T. Dallas.
Vince was a dedicated educator for over 45 years, teaching in the Arlington School District as well as Nolan Catholic High School, and for the past decade, served as an adjunct professor of English at UTA and Tarrant County College.
Vince raised his two daughters, Miclyne and Kathy, in the Arlington area alongside his first wife, Joyce. Known for his meticulous nature and inquisitive mind, Vince enjoyed restoring cars (particularly vintage English ones), learning about history and the arts and was a first-rate household "fix-it engineer."
After meeting through their Sunday school, Vince married his second wife, Martha Beasley, on July 20, 2002. They were married for 14 years.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Joyce; and grandson, Seth Shearin.
Survivors: Wife, Martha; daughters, Miclyne Stuhr (Nathan) and Kathy Findlay (Robert); stepchildren, Kari Szul and Jeffrey Szul (Dana); brother, Stanley Dannis (Tamara); uncle, Rex Eubanks (JoDell); grandchildren, Brantley and Elliot Stuhr, Hannah and Delilah Shearin and Dylan Findlay, Blake and Stella Szul.
